Titus 1:7

Titus 1:7

“For a bishop must be blameless, as a steward of God, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money,” – Titus 1:7

Paul lists the characteristics of what these elders need to be like.

blameless – “that cannot be called into to account, unreproveable, unaccused, blameless”

not self-willed – “self-pleasing, self-willed, arrogant”

not quick-tempered – “prone to anger, irascible”

not given to wine – “”

not violent – “bruiser, ready for a blow, a pugnacious, contentious, quarrelsome person”

not greedy for money – “”

An application:

As an “overseer”, Lord, please help me to have these qualities, help me to not be self-willed and not quick-tempered.
