1 Peter 1:14

1 Peter 1:14

“as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance;” – 1:14

as obedient children – because of mercy we are born again and are no the children of God, (obedient children) not like in former times, with our previous father, when we were disobedient.

not conforming yourselves to the former lusts – what does being obedient look like now, as a result of the abundant mercy? we no longer are “conformed” to lust, like we were in our old family, under our old father. This is the power of mercy and grace, it brings transformation.

as in your ignorance – there is a difference between before we meet mercy and after we meet mercy.

An application:

Father, let mercy, let the new birth, have the desired effect in my life, to bring me into obedience with you and your way, your will. Keep me from being conformed, rather let me be transformed! Amen.
