Titus 2:14

Titus 2:14

“who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.” – Titus 2:14

The grace that has appeared to all men (v11) was only possible because of Jesus – “who gave Himself for us”. It was out of love, it was willingness on his part. John 3:16 – God gave Him for us – it was a unified gift – to redeem the rebel.

But why did He give Himself? So that He might redeem (buy us back, pay the price) us from every lawless (sinful) deed. But not just that, He then wants to purify us for Himself. God and Jesus love you so much that they want you for themselves to be special people who are zealous of good works.

An application:

As an “overseer”, Lord, thank you for redeeming me from every lawless deed. Thank-you that you want me so much that you left everything for me, that you want to purify me, that you want to train me – thank you, Jesus. Help me to be zealous of good work, this is my prayer. Amen.
