Titus 2:8

Titus 2:8

“sound speech that cannot be condemned, that one who is an opponent may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of you.” – Titus 2:8

Continuing on the point which Titus needs to teach the young men in;

sound speech that cannot be condemned

These young men are meant to be a “pattern” of good things therefore it makes sense that their speech would also be sound and not able to be condemned. Again, this is only possible because of verse 11-14 of this chapter, because it is the power of Grace that teaches and gives the power to do.

that one who is an opponent may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of you

This sounds just like Daniel – his opponents were not able to find anything against Daniel. Again this is the description of integrity.

The “integrity test”

  • Am I truthful?
  • Am I honest?
  • Am I pure?
  • Am I selfish?

Integrity is a mindset, that one is living life in the presence of God.

An application:

As an “overseer”, I pray that I would have true integrity – integrity that works, and lasts – one that my enemies would not be able to refute. Amen.
