Titus 3:1

Titus 3:1

“Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work,” – Titus 3:1

“Remind them” – these are the four groups of chapter 2 (Old man, Old women, Young Women, Young men). Titus is to remind them “suggest to memory”.

“To be subject to rulers and authorities” – Until now in this epistle, Paul’s counsel has consisted of counsel with respect to relationships and duties within the church family. Now he now turns what their relationships should look like outside the church family, and in the surrounding community. Neglect of civic responsibilities brings needless reproach upon the church.

“to be ready for every good work”  – Again a key theme in this book is that the Christian, should have a visible difference in their lives. This is seen in their good works.

An application:

As an “overseer”, Lord, help me to be known for good works. To be seen as a genuine follower of You. Help me also to be a teacher of such things. Amen.
